JUDY BAILEY TRIO - Pendulum

FEATURING: Judy Bailey - Piano, Craig Scott – Bass, Tim Firth – Drums

Recorded at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the listener is invited along to this studio performance of classic jazz repertoire and Bailey originals. The gorgeous tones of all three musicians are captured intimately, as though they were ten feet in front of you, whilst the spontaneity and interaction speaks as though the trio had been playing for a full house.

Pendulum is engaging and irresistible, and as the album unfolds, the listener is compelled to swing along with the trio, back and forth, sweeping through the full range of Judy's palette, from the quiet, reflective intro to "Flamingo" to the playful, joyous version of "Night and Day"

Each standard is arranged with respect and depth, but with the space to allow the unique voice of Judy's playing to shine through. She in turn provides colours and textures that breathe and question, and the robust rhythm section in turn, answers with vocabulary articulate in the jazz idiom.

The album features two original compositions from Bailey, the rambling, clip clopping along "Country (not Western) Blues" and the sparkling title track "Pendulum".
