"Fourth Floor Collapse write intelligent and emotionally potent music. The soundscapes they explore can be both impossibly massive and arrestingly personal". Wally De Backer (aka Gotye)
"Another local act about to blow our minds" Kathy McCabe, The Daily Telegraph
“FFC's dramatic rock, with its flaunting of high emotion, thickly piled-on sounds and theatrical flashes, is in its moment” Bernard Zuel, Sydney Morning Herald
"Straight Up – Fourth Floor Collapse are one of the most amazing bands in the country" Sabian Wilde, Beat Magazine
Fourth Floor Collapse originated in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia in 1998. Songwriters and original members, Forrestal, Kealley and Miller, traversed the country in 2005 and found a solid east-coast rhythm section with Parker and Delaney to create Fourth Floor Collapse today. The band have been busy since the release of their last album, Books with Broken Spines in 2006. Touring; working on other projects – the track ‘Worn Out’ for Gotye’s ARIA award winning album Mixed Blood, Miller’s Microsleep EP; and creating their refreshingly unique and epic fourth album, VICTORIA.
Victoria: It can sound like a destination that is unattainable – a lofty, ambitious, top-of-the-mountain kind of place; it can sound like an era – an important time where great leaps forward are made; it can sound like the name screamed at the end of rousing speeches on battlefields.
Proving the title isn’t what it seems – this album is a nationwide creation. Recorded in Melbourne at Hothouse by Craig Harnath and Finn Keane, Congregation Studios by Michael Miller and Final Sound by Paul Ruske; mixed in Perth at Debaser Studios by Andy Lawson (Little Birdy, Eskimo Joe & End of Fashion) and Joel Quartermain (Eskimo Joe); and mastered in Sydney at Benchmark Mastering by Don Bartley.
Victoria is thirteen tracks inspired by life – friends, films, documentaries, books, music, and, of course, personal experience. Songwriters, Forrestal, Kealley, and Miller, express themselves with beauty and intensity, bringing light and shade, drama and warmth, sadness and joy to this lush musical canvas.
