The music video for the jawdroppingly good debut single Det Snurrar I Min Skalle managed to win a Swedish Grammy in 2007.

Familjen is being called the Swedish answer to The Presets.

A veritable ton of good electronic bands and artists have come out of Scandinavia in the last few years with Röyksopp, Annie, The Knife and Robin representing the tip of a snow-decked iceberg.  But never before have indie girls and electro boys jumped so high, screamed so loud or wiggled so squirmishly on the dance floor to tracks like Kom Sager dom and Det Snurrar I min Skalle (Translation: It's Spinning in My Head.)

Familijen is the name used for the solo electronic music project of Johan T Karlsson.  Johan is a one-man band; he writes his own music and lyrics, plays all the instruments, sings and produces.  Live, he is joined by fellow electronic artists and internationally renowned DJ, Andreas Tilliander.

This year's new star in the Scandinavian indie-dance constellation, Familjen produces music which draws references to artists such as Stone Roses, Happy Mondays and Underworld mixed together with 90s dance and future orientated electronic pop.  The result is acid-house meets indie-rock with lyrics delivered in Karlsson's unique skånsk dialect.

“An amazing debut and Familjen supplies a refreshingly happy slant on the indie-electro genre, making it standout from an otherwise saturated (and sometimes lacklustre) market.” – Inpress
