DUOSSEUDO - We Are One

Formed in 2005, Duosseudo are known for their unique and award-winning remix of Gotye’s Hearts
A Mess, which was placed on Mixed Blood and went on to win an ARIA award.

We Are One is the debut album from Melbourne based DJ’s and producers, Duosseudo.

Whilst evoking comparisons to the likes of the Potbelleez and Sneaky Sound system, Duosseudo elude definition and have forged their own explosive sound in a sometimes lacklustre market.

Duosseudo are Melbourne based duo, Marc Edwards (who has had considerable success as part of dance act, Highland, playing live on occasion to crowds of over 8000) and Luc Wiesman, the co-founder of thescene.com.au and well-known DJ with residencies at Qbar, Seven, Onesixone and Room680.  Having formed in 2005 the boys have had extensive NOVA and Triple J play and were responsible for the remix of Gotye’s Hearts a Mess, which was placed on Mixed Blood and went on to win an ARIA award.  Their debut album, We Are One was recorded over 9 months in the exclusive and well-stocked studio, Tinsel Town located in Hawthorn East, Melbourne.

Duossuedo have taken a route that has involved writing music that tries to steer clear of the current ‘electro wobble’ sound. Nothing in the Australian market sounds like Duossuedo or is Duosseudo.  Their intention was to “write a dance album that people could listen to without needing to take 10 pills, or have it remind them of the time they took 10 pills. It’s not retro, it’s not electro, it’s nowtro.”

The album We Are One has 12 tracks featuring 4 singers including Lydia Grant and Tess Henderson.  With a mixture of rocking electro house, disco, 80s and ambient sounds, Duosseudo are currently continuing to work on remixes for a number of artists which will be released in the coming months.   The first single from the album came about after a remix completed for Sydney band Expatriate was rejected. With only 2 weeks to fill the hole, the boys hopped back in the studio and worked with Lydia Grant to create the first single of the album, Just a Boy.

The Duosseudo name translates as ‘two fakes’, incorporating the ‘duo’ and a misspelled ‘pseudo’ (and is pronounced as Jew-oh-sue-do.) Marc and Luc are not singers, nor straight up musicians, but two ideas guys creating a vision with careful editing and killer collaborations.
